Middle Primary
In the Middle Primary years, we continue to nurture and strengthen the learning, confidence and attitudes students have developed in Junior Primary. Our goal is to support students to become capable, curious and resilient learners who are prepared for the next stages of schooling and life beyond the classroom.
Learning
Through the implementation of the new SA Curriculum, students engage in meaningful and connected learning experiences that support academic growth, wellbeing and personal development. We authentically embed the new Dispositions for Learning and Capabilities throughout all learning areas, encouraging students to become confident communicators, creative thinkers, collaborative learners and responsible citizens.
There is a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy through the implementation of evidence-informed programs including InitiaLit, SpellEx, and Department for Education-endorsed units of work. Students are supported to develop independence, perseverance and a positive growth mindset as they build the skills needed for future success.
Digital Technologies
Recognising the importance of digital literacy in the 21st Century, students in Middle Primary are provided with opportunities to develop important technological skills in safe, purposeful and engaging ways. Students work collaboratively and independently using laptops and iPads, while exploring a range of digital tools and programs, including coding and 3D modelling software. These experiences support creativity, problem-solving and responsible digital citizenship.
Camps & Excursions
In Middle Primary, students further develop independence, resilience and teamwork through participation in excursions and overnight camp experiences. These opportunities are designed to provide safe, inclusive and authentic learning experiences that strengthen social connections, build confidence and extend learning beyond the classroom.
